CCFWE work

The Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) is the only national organization in Canada dedicated to fighting Domestic Economic Abuse in the context of Family Violence through policy change, advocacy, economic empowerment, and community-based research. Over the years, CCFWE has worked tirelessly with organizations, family lawyers, policymakers, the local and federal government, financial advocates, and survivors to develop a comprehensive approach to address Economic Abuse and empower survivors to rebuild their lives and gain control of their finances. The center exists to create a space for women to be free, to heal, and to find her economic power again.

We are honoured for this recognition, along with leading change-makers and innovators who lead the way and take action for Economic and Social Development. Economic injustice significantly impacts women’s and children’s well-being with a devastating and long-term impact. This award helps shine a spotlight on the awareness, critical policy, and socio-economic barriers and better support women to recover from Economic Injustice and achieve economic security and safety’’ – Meseret Haileyesus.
