As part of a national pilot project, CCFWE delivered specialized mental health counseling to support women in Canada affected by economic abuse.
Economic abuse has profound and lasting effects on survivors’ mental health. Studies show that PTSD is seven times more likely in relationships involving economic abuse, which is also one of the strongest predictors of suicide attempts among women experiencing intimate partner violence.
Target group: Economic Abuse Victims from Black Indigenous and People of Color community.
This economic development project supported women with lived experience of economic abuse in building financial resilience.
Funded by the City of Ottawa.
The project provided interactive forums, group counseling by a psychotherapist, and one-on-one mentoring for BPOC women with lived experience of economic abuse.
Delivered in collaboration with Fabiola’s Foundation, FFEAM, and SMJ Magazine & Shelland House of Films.
Funded by the City of Ottawa.
