Elita Uch

Social Worker: Survivor Engagement Officer

Elita (she/they) is dedicated to uplifting survivors’ experiences and building support through culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed and intersectional feminist practices. They previously served as a Coordinator in various grassroots community organizations, including the Ottawa-based Feminist Resource Centre, where they led initiatives focused on gender-based violence, community outreach, and inclusive programming aimed at fostering community among queer individuals, people with disabilities, and folks of colour. For over four years, they collaborated closely with diverse equity-denied communities to establish safe and supportive spaces for survivors through advocacy, education, and frontline support. Elita is passionately committed to assisting survivors with empathy, dignity, respect, and compassion. In their current role, they strive to enhance survivor engagement by creating holistic, accessible, culturally responsive, and survivor-led approaches that uplift individuals and contribute to systemic change. Elita holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the University of Ottawa and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Public and International Affairs at the same institution, focusing on the advancement of intersectional feminism within areas such as artificial intelligence, radicalization, and migration. When outdoors on sunny days, Elita can be found reading, painting, and travelling.
