Board of Director – CCFWE
Who we are:
Based in Ottawa, the Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) is the only Canadian national not for profit organization dedicated to addressing Economic Abuse and injustice through advocacy, education, research, economic empowerment, and policy change. Our work is informed by leading research, evidence, and contributors that have lived experience.
We bring research, evaluation, practice, lived experience, and theory to inform critical thinking and enhance knowledge in society and institutions of influence (Financial and Government) to better serve survivors of economic-financial abuse and their families. Our vision is a world where domestic violence survivors can access and receive the resources they require to develop and achieve economic empowerment, and by doing so, improve their general well-being.
We work in partnership to ensure women have access to and control over their own economic resources. We focus on four strategic priorities: public education and awareness-raising; mental health and wellness; ensuring systems do not inadvertently facilitate economic abuse; and influencing policy. Our aim now is to ensure that policy and practice recognize economic abuse so that victim-survivors are supported to achieve economic justice, and abusers are held accountable for their behavior.
