TAKE THE PLEDGE TODAY AND JOIN THE MOVEMENT TO SUPPORT VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ECONOMIC ABUSE

PLEDGE TO FIGHT ECONOMIC ABUSE

We believe in women’s empowerment, economic justice, economic safety and equity. We pledge to action against Economic Abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.

  • We understand that Economic Abuse is a common but often overlooked and understudied form of domestic violence that has detrimental impacts on a survivor’s access to social support services, mental and physical well-being, housing insecurity, generational trauma and additional forms of marginalization. Economic Abuse affects generations of people in Canada regardless of socio-economic status, race, age or other identity factors.
  • We believe that Economic Abuse victim-survivors have the right to live without any form of violence and be supported on their journey to regain control over their lives.
  • We call on all levels of government, private, leaders, and public stakeholders to work together to take action in addressing and preventing Economic Abuse.
  • We demand accountability from leaders to deliver on their duty to bring justice to survivors and victims of Economic Abuse.
  • We commit to raising awareness about Economic Abuse within our work and to inform ourselves on how to recognize, identify, respond to, and prevent Economic Abuse from escalating or continuing.
  • We stand in solidarity with CCFWE to fight Economic Abuse and dedicate ourselves to finding lasting solutions for victim-survivors economic safety and security .

We pledge to:

  1. Help increase awareness of Economic Abuse by engaging in the #HelpUsRise campaign on our organization’s social media and other communication channels.
  2. Recognize November 26th as Economic Abuse Awareness Day (EAAD) within our networks, workplace, and personal life.
  3. Educate ourselves and staff members on Economic Abuse, through using CCFWE’s education materials, tools, and workshops or training sessions.
  4. Write to your MP, MPP, Mayor, or municipality and request to proclaim November 26 as Economic Abuse Awareness Day and to support survivors and victims of Economic Abuse.
  5. Share and amplify our support by spreading awareness on what Economic Abuse is and how it intersects with lived realities, mental attitudes, and systemic structural barriers.
